How to Draw Your Own Pickleball Lines on a Tennis Court
As we have discussed, a pickleball court is approximately one-fourth the size of a tennis court. The process of drawing your own pickleball lines on a tennis court requires you to divide the court into sections. - Measuring tape:- for accurate measurements
- Chalk or another temporary marker:-to mark the lines
- Temporary tape (like painter’s tape)for laying the line
How to mark pickleball lines on a tennis court:
- You should position your net in the middle of one side of the tennis court.
- Start your measuring tape a foot inside the net to determine the first sideline. Next, mark a line extending 22 feet away from the net.
- Measure and mark the baseline 20 feet horizontally from the 22-foot mark on the sideline. The halfway point should be marked at 10 feet – you will need it later.
- In order to measure the second sideline, start a foot inside the net from the opposite side post. Draw a straight line out to the end of the baseline. The non-volley zone (the “Kitchen”) should be marked 7 feet from the net on each sideline. The two points should be connected across the court. Make a note of the halfway point (10 feet) as well. Connect the two 10′ halfway points (one should be halfway along the baseline, and one should be halfway across the kitchen line).
- Apply tape along the lines. From the base point to the endpoint, stretch the tape. Then, gently press it down to ensure that it applies straight and evenly.
Can You Play Pickleball on a Tennis Court By Converting It into Pickleball Court?
In order to convert a tennis court into multiple permanent pickleball courts, the following items will need to be addressed: Typically, tennis posts are installed in a concrete footer or sleeve, and the pipe anchor needs to be removed. It’s cemented directly under the tennis net at the center to hold the net center strap with the pipe anchor.
In view of the fact that the net posts are located in the center of the old tennis court and between the two sets of new pickleball courts, it may be possible to cap the holes by installing sleeves in the concrete post footers.
